The number of traffic fatalities in Chiba Prefecture is tied for the nation's worst with 20 as of February 18.
In addition, nine of the 20 fatalities were pedestrians, and most of them occurred during the nighttime hours.
Please observe the following points to prevent traffic fatalities.
（ 1 ） Pedestrians have priority at crosswalks.
（ 2 ） Pedestrians should take actions to avoid traffic accidents, such as making effective use of reflective materials when out at night, clearly indicating to drivers their intention to cross by "raising hands" or "eye contact" when crossing a pedestrian crossing, and crossing after checking that cars have stopped.
（ 3 ） Be aware of the fact that drunk driving is a serious and malicious crime, and make sure that not only you but also your family and friends do not drink and drive.
